Tom McDonnell Named CCAA Runner of the Week

Cal Poly Pomona's Tom McDonnell has been chosen as the CCAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
McDonnell was the top Bronco at the DBU Old Glory Gallup in Grand Prairie, Texas, as he led Cal Poly Pomona to a second place team finish. McDonnell posted a personal best time of 24:14.1 in the 8K race. McDonnell bested his previous PR time of 24:42.8.
The junior from Newbury Park, Calif., was one of four Broncos to finish in the top 14. No. 8 ranked East Central (Okla.) won the team trophy 37-57 ahead of the 23rd ranked Broncos.
This is McDonnell's first CCAA Runner of the Week award. He was an All-CCAA finisher at the CCAA Championships in 2023.
Cal Poly Pomona returns to action on Oct. 19 with a short trip to Claremont, Calif., for the Pomona-Pitzer Invite.
