Candray and Ramos Lead CPP to Second Place Finish at CCAA Championships

FRESNO, Calif. – For the fourth consecutive year, and the ninth time in the past 11 seasons, the Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team finished second in the CCAA Cross Country Championships. The Broncos finished behind Chico State for the fourth straight year, as CPP had a score of 55 while the Wildcats won their 22nd consecutive conference title with a score of 18.
Four Broncos earned All-CCAA honors for finishing Top 15 in the race, including Leandro Candray, Juan Ramos, Tom McDonnell, and Evan Franco. It was Candray's third All-CCAA performance in his career, while McDonnell also repeated as an All-CCAA honoree. Ramos and Franco each earned the recognition for the first time in their careers.
Cal Poly Pomona had an average time of 24:37 in the race, 18 seconds behind the conference leader in Chico State.
Candray and Ramos entered the top of the record book for the Green & Gold, running the third and fourth fastest 8K times for CPP in a conference championship race. Candray's time of 24:27.8 is the third-fastest, while Ramos' time of 24:28.7 is the fourth-fastest. Six of the Broncos' seven runners entered the Top 50 fastest times in school history in a CCAA race.

The Broncos will compete in the NCAA West Regionals in Billings, Montana on Saturday, November 9th. The race will take place at Amend Park, with the men's 10K beginning at 9:00 AM PST.
