Bella Anderson Named CCAA Defensive Player of the Week

By: CCAA

Bella Anderson of Cal Poly Pomona has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Broncos to a regular season title.

Anderson helped the Broncos to a pair of shutouts as Cal Poly Pomona claimed its second consecutive regular season championship. CPP won versus Cal Poly Humboldt, 1-0, and beat Sonoma State, 2-0, to earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

The senior defender, who played all 90 minutes in both matches, led the unit as it held the surging Lumberjacks and the Seawolves to just three shots on goal in each contest.

Cal Poly Pomona has the third best defense in terms of goals allowed with just 11 in 17 matches this season (8 in 10 conference matches). The Broncos have recorded league-best 10 shutouts. Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders

The No. 4 ranked Broncos (14-1-2) will get a bye as the No. 1 seed in the CCAA Women's Soccer Tournament in Arcata, Nov. 15-17. They host Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday to close out the regular season.
