Broncos Set Program Record with 14-Game Unbeaten Streak After 2-0 Win
CHICO, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos women's soccer team defeated the Chico State Wildcats 2-0, extending their unbeaten streak to 14 games, a new school record.
The first half ended scoreless, with the Broncos taking six shots and the Wildcats managing four. The Broncos found their rhythm in the second half when Vanessa Cruz opened the scoring at 57:13. Her powerful shot from outside the box not only found the top right corner but also marked her 10th goal of the season, placing her 12th in the program's single-season scoring list.
Alexis Macias added a second goal at 83:56 off a well-placed corner kick, bringing her total to five goals this season. The Broncos continued to dominate offensively, taking ten shots in the second half, while the Wildcats managed seven.
This victory marks the best start in program history, with a current record of 12-0-2 overall and 5-0-2 in conference play. Notably, this win also marked the Broncos' seventh shutout of the season.
