Broncos Have Strong Showing at UCR Invite, Set Nine Personal Bests

By: Alex Kline, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team had a historic weekend, seeing nine of their 10 runners set personal bests in the 6K race at the 43rd Annual UCR Cross Country Invitational in Riverside.

The Broncos finished in 15th place with an average time of 21:25, the second-fastest among Division II schools in the race. This average was faster than any time ran during the 2023 season.

"I thought the team ran really well," said head coach Chris Bradford. "It was a really good meet, deep with Division I and II teams. Our women averaged faster than our best run last year, and we placed 10th last year but finished 15th this year. That just goes to show the strength of the field."

Vivian Martinez finished first for the Broncos, setting a personal best at 20:58.8 – the second-fastest time in a 6K race in Cal Poly Pomona history. The school record was set by Tiffany Dinh in 2011 at 20:54.8, just four seconds faster, also taking place at the UCR Ag/Ops Course.

Paige Moore and Jade Kingston were the next two finishers at 21:21.2 and 21:23.2, respectively, each also entering the Top 25 in program history. Moore's time was good for the ninth-fastest, while Kingston's time is now the 10th fastest in a 6K race.
