Samantha Campion Named CCAA Defensive Player of the Week

Cal Poly Pomona's Samantha Campion has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
Campion contributed in every defensive stat category and added some quality offensive numbers to two double-doubles. She averaged 5.33 digs, 0.67 blocks and 1.17 aces per set to help lead Cal Poly Pomona to a pair of wins as it remained perfect in conference play at 14-0. The senior from Mission Viejo also chipped in with 3.83 kills and 5.58 points per set.
In Friday's match against Sonoma State, Campion had 17 digs, a block and an ace to go along with 12 kills (.300 hitting%). On Saturday, the outside hitter matched a CCAA three-set season-best with six aces. She also had 15 digs, three blocks (two solo) and 11 kills (.310 hitting%).
Campion is now third in the CCAA in aces (0.51), fourth in digs (3.81), eighth in points (4.12) and tied for ninth in kills (3.26). Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard.

Cal Poly Pomona holds a two-game lead in the standings over San Francisco State with four matches remaining in the regular season. The Broncos will be home this week to host Cal State LA on Friday (Nov. 9) and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday (Nov. 10).
