Mueller Named CSC Academic All-American®

By: Alex Kline, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications

AUSTIN, Texas – Already one of the greatest setters in school history, senior Caitie Mueller added to her distinguished Cal Poly Pomona career on Tuesday morning being named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team. Mueller is the first CPP volleyball student-athlete to earn the award in 36 years, as Gayle Deisinger was the last to receive the distinction during the 1988 season.

Mueller not only shined on the court, being named AVCA All-America Second Team, AVCA All-West Region First Team, All-CCAA First Team, and five-time CCAA Player of the Week, but also maintained a 4.00 GPA off the court while working toward a Multiple Subject Credential. This academic excellence, paired with her impressive performance and leadership on the court, earned her the program's first Academic All-American award in over three and a half decades.

Last month, four members of the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team were named to the CSC Academic All-District team, including Mueller, Samantha Campion, Helen McMullin, and Avery Percival. Mueller and Campion qualified as finalists to earn All-America distinction.
