Toros Run Away with 67-50 Victory Over Broncos
POMONA, Calif. - The No. 25 Cal Poly Pomona Broncos were defeated by Cal State Dominguez Hills, falling 67-50 in a tough match up. Despite a strong start, the Broncos were unable to overcome the Toros' offensive momentum and defensive pressure throughout the game.
The game opened with the Broncos holding a slight lead over the Toros, leading by a few points in the first few minutes. However, Cal State Dominguez Hills quickly responded, tying the game within a minute and then pushing ahead. By the seven minute mark of the first half, the Toros had built a 10-point lead, prompting a 30-second timeout from the Broncos.
Unfortunately for Cal Poly Pomona, the Toros' dominance continued, with their lead growing as the half progressed. With just over a minute left before halftime, the Toros had doubled the Broncos' score, leading 34-18 at the break.
The second half saw Cal State Dominguez Hills maintain control. Just five minutes into the half, the Toros had stretched their lead to 20 points, keeping the Broncos at bay. Although Cal Poly Pomona made a push to close the gap, they were unable to get closer than a 12-point deficit.
The game concluded with the Toros securing the 67-50 victory, thanks to their relentless offense and lockdown defense. Zach Broadous led the Broncos with 10 points, while Jaden Winfield added nine. A balanced effort on the glass saw seven Broncos contribute with at least three rebounds, and a total of nine Broncos scored points in the game.
