By: Alex Kline, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A record three Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer student-athletes were named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Scholar All-American team. It is the first time in program history three athletes have received the honor in the same season.
In order to be considered for this recognition, a student-athlete must be of junior, senior, or graduate academic standing, have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average throughout their career, and have played in at least 75 percent of all team's games and be an elite player as supported by playing honors (i.e., all-conference) and contributions to the team.
Jasper Winslow repeated as a Scholar All-American, this time a first teamer, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor in multiple seasons. The Los Angeles native maintained a 3.51 cumulative GPA in Agricultural Science, while also being named All-West Region First Team, All-CCAA Second Team, and CSC Academic All-District this fall. One of the captains for the 2024 squad, Winslow played in a total of 1,705 minutes with two goals and two assists while contributing to eight shutouts on defense.
Fin Jackson was named a first team Scholar All-American as well, just the fourth time a Bronco has received first team honors. The Scholar Green, England native held a 3.63 GPA in Business Management, while being named United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American, All-West Region First Team, All-CCAA First Team, and CSC Academic All-District this fall. Jackson scored two goals with 1,768 minutes played, contributing to nine shutouts as one of the other captains of the 2024 squad.
Sam Lena was named to the Scholar All-America second team, rounding out the trio of Broncos. The Santa Monica native led CPP with a 3.81 GPA in Civil Engineering, while also being named All-West Region Second Team, All-CCAA Honorable Mention, and CSC Academic All-District this fall. Lena scored one goal during the 2024 season, with 1,140 minutes played and leading the team with seven assists.
Jackson and Lena are the fifth and sixth players in program history to receive the honor, while Winslow becomes the first to ever earn it in multiple seasons.
