Big Fourth Quarter Leads No. 24 Broncos to Fifth Straight Win in CCAA Opener

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The trio of Sydney Nelson, Breanne Ha, and Jeanette Fine led the Broncos to their fifth straight win on Saturday afternoon, improving to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Broncos currently have the second-best overall winning percentage in the CCAA, while having the most road wins in the conference to start the season.

Nelson, Ha, and Fine each scored in double figures, leading the team to a 62-49 victory over Cal State San Bernardino. Nelson has now scored exactly 17 points in a remarkable four consecutive games, as she leads the team in scoring this season with 84 points (14.0 per game). Ha added three more treys to her career total, inching closer to the all-time CPP record. The redshirt senior out of Rancho Cucamonga needs 35 more to tie Anna James (1999-03) for the program record of 215.

Fine turned in her fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 14 points, as she has also made at least one three-point field goal in each of the team's six games so far this season. Cookie Marques and Mydrea Moore led the team with eight and seven boards, respectively.

After a close first quarter that saw the Coyotes finish ahead 13-12, the Broncos took a sizable lead in the second quarter - outscoring CSUSB 14-6 to go ahead by seven. However, the Yotes came back with 20 points in the third, regaining the lead once again with a trey in the final minute.

With CSUSB still ahead 42-40 with 8:14 left in the game, Ha nailed a big three to put the Broncos ahead by one. The team would run with that momentum on a 22-7 run for the remainder of the game, thanks in part to seven points from the bench. The Broncos once again dominated inside the paint, outscoring CSUSB 30-18 throughout the game in those opportunities. The game would conclude with a final score of 62-49, handing the Broncos the win in the CCAA opener.
