Clash Ends in Heartbreak for the Broncos

POMONA, Calif. - In a hard-fought contest, the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos fell to the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks, 57-55, in a dramatic finish. This was the second meeting between the two teams this season, with the Broncos having won the first match up of the Cal Poly Clash.

Humboldt took control early, jumping to a 5-0 lead, and despite Pomona's efforts to chip away, the Lumberjacks maintained the advantage throughout the first half. The Broncos stayed within 13 points for most of the period, but couldn't find a way to close the gap, heading into halftime down 23-36.

The second half saw Cal Poly Pomona begin to make their move. With just over 10 minutes left, the Broncos started to close in on the Lumberjacks, and with 3:38 remaining, they tied the game at 53-53. The tension mounted as the teams traded blows, and with 2:08 left, the game was tied once more at 55-55. However, with just 24 seconds left on the clock, the Lumberjacks made a crucial basket to take the lead and hold on for the 57-55 win.

Demarreya Lewis-Cooper led the Broncos with 12 points and was a defensive force, recording 5 steals. Miles Lewis added 11 points, while Caleb Nelson and Kevin Simeth both contributed 6 rebounds.
