No. 2 Broncos Triumph Over Pioneers as Vanessa Cruz Shines in Historic Season

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos triumphed over Cal State University East Bay with a 3-2 victory, marking a stellar continuation of their historic season. Junior Vanessa Cruz was the standout player of the match, showcasing her skills with three goals scored at the 36:38, 51:57, and 58:54 minute marks, bringing her season total to eight.

The Pioneers fought back, scoring their first goal at 63:06, reigniting their hopes for a comeback. They found the net again at 89:50, but it was too late to shift the outcome. The match was closely contested, with the Broncos registering 15 shots to the Pioneers' 13.

Defensively, Bella Hara played a pivotal role for the Broncos, not only completing all 90 minutes but also making five crucial saves that kept her team in the lead. Bella Anderson, Giselle Samayoa, and Liberty Ortiz also made significant contributions by playing the entire game on defense. 

With this win, the Broncos continue their best start in program history at 9-0-1 and improve to 2-0-1 in CCAA conference play.
