93 Broncos Named CCAA All-Academic for 2023-24
By: CCAA
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Over a thousand student-athletes across 12 CCAA member institutions and 13 sports earned CCAA All-Academic honors for the 2023-24 school year. The CCAA proudly announced that 1,030 student-athletes received the honor after posting a 3.40 grade point average or higher and earning a varsity letter in a conference-sponsored sport during the designated academic year.
The CCAA began handing out All-Academic honors in 2005-06, and the 1,030 selections set the conference record, eclipsing the 935 selections in 2021-22.
"Congratulations to all of the CCAA All-Academic honorees for helping set a new conference record in 2023-24," said CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison. "The size of this list is a testament to the dedication our student-athletes display on and off the playing surface throughout the year. In my first year as commissioner, I have been so impressed with the hard work these student-athletes put into academics, training, competition, and being leaders in our communities. It is something our conference is very proud of. Thank you also to our coaches, academic advisors, and administration teams across all our campuses that help drive our student-athletes towards success daily."
Cal State Monterey Bay led the way with 114 honorees, one more than Cal State San Marcos (113). Chico State and San Francisco State eclipsed the century mark, tying for third with 104 selections. Cal State East Bay (95) completed the top 5. Cal Poly Pomona was close behind with 93 honorees.
Eight of 12 universities increased their all-academic selections from last year. Cal State Monterey Bay saw the largest year-over-year increase with 25 additional selections. Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Humboldt added 24 more honorees than in 2022-23.
The CCAA and NCAA Division II support the educational mission of college athletics by fostering a balanced and inclusive approach in which student-athletes learn and develop through their desired academic pursuits, civic engagement with their communities, and athletics competition, creating a life in the balance.
The award is designed to demonstrate the academic achievements of each of the CCAA's 12 conference constituents. It illustrates just one of the many ways student-athletes in the conference take advantage of the unique opportunity Division II provides to compete in the classroom, on the field, in their career, for their causes, and on their terms.
