LOS ANGELES - Cal Poly Pomona NCAA basketball champion and NBA historic referee Violet Palmer has been selected for the prestigious 2025 Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame (SCBBHOF) Lifetime Service Award. She will be honored with the 2025 induction class on Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Anaheim.
Palmer was a guard for two CPP championship basketball teams. She was the first female official to reach the highest level of refereeing NBA games and the first to ever officiate a NBA playoff game.
"Violet has been a pace-setter since coming out of Compton to attend Cal Poly Pomona and then to be such a special role model for women today with making it possible for female officials in the NBA," said Mike Gallups, President of the SCBBHOF.
