West Region CHAMPIONS: Broncos Advance to the Elite 8 for the First Time Since 1999

POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Point Loma Sea Lions in the third round of the NCAA West Regional, clinching their first regional title since 1999.

The Broncos, who had previously beaten Point Loma 1-0 earlier in the season, took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal from Marisa Salazar. Despite a strong first half where Cal Poly Pomona registered five shots to Point Loma's three, the Sea Lions responded after halftime, equalizing at 47:13 to tie the match at 1-1.

After a tense second half, the game went into overtime, where the first team to score would win (golden goal rule). In the 96th minute, Angelina Rivas scored the golden goal, propelling the Broncos to victory and securing the west regional title.
