Buggs, Nelson, and Ha Receive All-CCAA Recognition

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball trio of Sydney Nelson, Kalaya Buggs, and Breanne Ha earned All-CCAA recognition on Tuesday afternoon, it was announced by the conference office. All three are receiving the honor for the second time in their careers at CPP.
Kalaya Buggs repeated as a All-CCAA First Team honoree, scoring 315 points (11.7 per game), recording 143 rebounds (5.3 per game), and leading the team with 98 assists. The senior out of Compton recently surpassed the 1,000 career point mark, and is just five points away from recording 1,000 in a CPP uniform. She ranks second in the conference in free throw percentage, being just one of two players shooting over 80% from the line.
Sydney Nelson has earned First Team honors for the first time in her career, after being named to the CCAA Second Team last season. Nelson has started and played in all 28 games this year, leading the team in scoring with a total of 443 points (15.8 per game). She also boasts the highest field goal percentage in the conference at 58.7% and leads the Broncos with 56 steals.
Breanne Ha has been selected to the Second Team for the first time in her career, after earning an Honorable Mention last season. Ha currently leads the conference in 3-pointers made per game, averaging 2.5, with a total of 68. This season, she set a new CPP school record for career 3-pointers, reaching 216. Additionally, Ha reached the 1,000-point milestone in a Bronco uniform and is just five buckets away from breaking her own school record for most 3-pointers in a single season.
The Broncos will continue their postseason run at the CCAA Tournament on Friday, March 7th, in the conference semifinals.
