POMONA, Calif. – Kevin Gomez has joined Cal Poly Pomona Athletics as the new Assistant Athletics Director for Development, it was announced by Director of Athletics Brian Swanson and Executive Director of Development Pam Jones-Tintle on Friday. Gomez, who most recently served as the Assistant Director of Athletics Advancement at Claremont McKenna College, began his role on Wednesday, January 15th.
"We are excited that Kevin has decided to join Team Broncos," said Swanson. "He has a great understanding of the Southern California intercollegiate athletics landscape and passion for collegiate sports, having successfully led advancement operations at other well-established institutions. With the continued and heightened successes of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff, we are thrilled to have Kevin join us at this critical time, and continue advancing our department and programs on a conference, regional, and national level."
In his role at CPP, Gomez will help meet the fundraising needs of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. He will work closely with the Director of Athletics, Administration, Coaches, and other University leadership to identify and operationalize the development objectives and goals of the Department. As an integral part of the University Advancement program, he will work to foster lasting relationships between the university and its benefactors, connecting with current and future donors.
"I am grateful and honored to be a part of Cal Poly Pomona Athletics and the Bronco family," said Gomez. "I'm looking forward to connecting and building with our coaches, while sharing the story of Bronco student-athletes to alums, families, and friends."
While at Claremont McKenna College, Gomez was responsible for the development and execution of departmental goals and a comprehensive annual fund plan that increased unrestricted giving among the department and individual sports. He oversaw donor sport committees, which planned and coordinated prospects for lead donors, and also closed multiple substantial gifts for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Prior to Claremont McKenna College, Gomez was a Development Assistant with the University of Southern California Trojan Athletic Fund, where he managed a portfolio of over 250 donors by immersing them into the culture of Trojan Athletics. Before entering the collegiate athletics space, Gomez spent eight years with Ballislife LLC, both as an Account Manager for Partnerships & Development and an Online Store Manager for Sales & Marketing.
Gomez earned a degree in Advertising from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2020, before going on to earn a master's in Sports Management from Long Beach State in 2021, and is currently working toward a Master of Business Administration from USC.
