Women’s Track & Field Ranked First in CCAA Preseason Poll

By: Delanie Gearing, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos' women's track and field team is ready to kick off another season with high expectations, having been ranked first in the California Collegiate Athletic Association preseason poll. With a strong history of success under the leadership of Head Coach Chris Bradford, the Broncos are looking to continue their dominance in the conference and beyond.

The Broncos' strength lies in their standout athletes, who are all set to make a significant impact this season. Arissa Hatcher was an All-American in the 4x400 in the 2023 season. Specializing in mid-distance events, Hatcher has played a vital role in the team's success, helping secure two of their past three CCAA championships. Kelsey Ehinlaiye, another vital member of the team, specializes in sprints and has contributed to the Broncos' two CCAA titles. Ehinlaiye's speed will undoubtedly be a critical asset in the Broncos' pursuit of another successful season. Isabelle Carreon set a school record in the pole vault in 2024 and played a key role in the Broncos' CCAA championship victory. With Carreon's skill and leadership, she's expected to continue pushing the team forward in 2025.

While the 2025 season may look a bit different for the Broncos, the team's expectations of success remain unchanged. Bradford, now in his eighth season at the helm of the Broncos, has been instrumental in leading the team to three consecutive CCAA championship victories in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Under his guidance, the Broncos have continued to excel, breaking records and developing athletes who compete at the highest level.

"This team is going to look very different than years past, but our expectations of success haven't changed," Bradford shared. "We are starting to see the growth of this team already during the indoor season, and I expect that to continue as we head outdoors. I think this group may surprise us with how far they can go."
