Campion, Dahl, and Koerber Headline Broncos’ Record-Setting All-CCAA Honors
By: Alex Kline, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona volleyball broke the program record for most all-conference honorees on Tuesday night, seeing seven athletes receive All-CCAA recognition. In addition, Samantha Campion was named CCAA Player of the Year, Traci Dahl was named CCAA Coach of the Year, and Charlotte Koerber was named CCAA Newcomer of the Year. The team's seven honorees are the most of any school in the CCAA this season.
Head coach Traci Dahl was named CCAA Coach of the Year for the first time in her career. Now in her fifth season at the helm, Dahl led the Broncos to an impressive 23-2 record during the regular season, winning the program's first outright regular season title with a 17-1 conference record. The team has broken numerous records, such as most CCAA wins and most 3-0 sweeps in a season. Dahl also collected her 100th career win at CPP last Saturday in San Francsico, appropriately clinching the outright regular season title on the milestone.
Samantha Campion was named 2024 CCAA Player of the Year, joining Mitsue Tomoyasu (1992) and Daisy Duke (2022) as the third Bronco to ever receive the honor. Campion has been one of the most dynamic players in the country this season, averaging 3.22 kills per set and 3.65 digs per set, while totaling 49.0 blocks and 43 aces. She is the only player in the entire CCAA to rank Top 10 in kills, aces, digs, and points this season. Campion was also named two-time CCAA Defensive Player of the Week and recorded 13 double-doubles during the regular season.
Sophomore transfer Charlotte Koerber was named CCAA Newcomer of the Year, joining Jazmyn Wheeler (2021) and teammate Caitie Mueller (2022) as the third Bronco to receive that honor. Koerber stepped up in a big way for the Broncos, recording seven double-digit kill games. She has averaged 2.66 kills per set and 2.29 digs per set, while ranking third on the team in total kills this season. Koerber shined in the regular-season finale at San Francisco State, recording a season-high 17 kills to help the Broncos secure the outright regular season title.
In addition to Campion, setter Caitie Mueller and outside hitter Sarah Ybarra were both named All-CCAA First Team. Mueller was named First Team in 2022 and Second Team in 2023, while Ybarra picks up her first career all-conference honors. Mueller has solidified herself as one of the very best setters in program history, recently eclipsing the 3,000 assist mark to move into fifth all-time. Her 918 total assists and 10.80 assists per set both rank second in the conference this season. Ybarra played a pivotal role in the Broncos' season, leading the team with 358 kills and 4.21 kills per set. She ranks Top 10 in the CCAA in kills and points, and was named both CCAA and AVCA National Player of the Week back in September.
Joining Koerber on the All-CCAA Second Team was Avery Percival, her second straight year receiving all-conference honors. On October 5th, Percival became the ninth Bronco to record 1,000 career digs, as her 3.54 digs per set ranks seventh best in the CCAA this season.
Alexia Athans and Helen McMullin rounded out the seven honorees for the Broncos, each receiving All-CCAA Honorable Mentions. The two middle blockers were big at the net for CPP, recording 156 of the team's 193.5 blocks. Both ranked Top 10 in the CCAA in blocks this season, while Athans' .321 attack percentage was the fifth best in the conference.
