No. 6 Broncos Stunned in CCAA Semifinals

POMONA, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona volleyball fell to the reigning national champion Cal State LA Golden Eagles on Friday night, losing three sets to one. With the loss, the Broncos are eliminated from the CCAA Tournament and now await the upcoming NCAA Tournament in hopes of playing for a national title. Given that CPP was ranked number one in the latest regional rankings, the Broncos are hopeful to not only make the NCAA tournament, but also potentially host the west regional in the coming weeks.

Cal State LA's Emily Elliott was the story of the game, registering an impressive 32 kills on 75 attempts to carry the Golden Eagles to the championship match. The No. 6 ranked Broncos also swung at a season-low .123 clip, while LA was over 100 points higher at .228.

Charlotte Koerber and  Samantha Campion both managed to collect double-digit kills, while Campion turned in her 14th double-double of the season with 12 digs. Campion's seventh kill of the match was the 1,000th of her CPP career, making her the 10th player in program history to achieve that milestone. Helen McMullin added seven kills with no errors, while also leading the team with one solo block and four assisted blocks. As a result, McMullin was named to the CCAA All-Tournament team for the first time in her career.
