Volleyball’s Historic Season Ends in Regional Finals
POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team saw their historic 2024 season come to a close on Saturday night, falling three sets to none against San Francisco State in the West Region Finals. The Broncos finish as arguably the best team in program history, owning a 25-4 overall record while breaking numerous school records and reaching as far as any previous team in the current playoff format.
The Broncos struggled to gain any momentum against the Gators, taking their first and only lead early in the third set. However, that was quickly taken away by a San Francisco State run, as the Gators would end up taking all three sets for their first West Region title in program history. Though San Francisco State swung just .184 in the match, the Broncos had a .086 hitting percentage - their lowest in over five years - to go along with 10 service errors.
Though the season game to an abrupt and disappointing end, the accomplishments of the 2024 squad will forever be enshrined in the record books. Among the many accolades and accomplishments this season, the team became the first squad in program history to win an outright CCAA regular season title, while also being ranked the highest in program history.
The team says goodbye to an extremely talented senior class, including Samantha Campion, Caitie Mueller, and Avery Percival – who each entered the record book in multiple individual categories during their time as a Bronco. Seniors Helen McMullin, Madison Novak, Giselle Vogel, and Jenna O'Shea also played a big role in leading the program to new heights.
Campion, Mueller, and Sarah Ybarra were also named to the All-Regional Tournament Team.
