Women’s Track and Field Sets 11 Personal Records at Bryan Clay

AZUSA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Bryan Clay Invitational this past Saturday, entering the CPP Top 10 record book in four separate events while earning three NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
The Broncos saw 11 personal records broken, including all four that competed in the 5000 meters at the Leopard Distance Carnival. Galilea Jimenez climbed to third all-time in the 3000 meter steeplechase, while Alondra Arias ranks ninth in the 800 meters and Shona Christensen now ranks sixth in the hammer throw.
The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams continued to improve, the latter reaching a provisional mark with the third-fastest time in school history. The 4x400 relay team now ranks ninth in the nation in the event.
In addition to helping the relay teams, senior Ayana Fields continued to improve her season-best in the 400 meters, running a time of 54.75 to rank 16th in the nation. She also ranks fourth in all of NCAA DII in the 200 meters with a time of 23.45, set during the Mangrum Invitational a few weeks back.
