POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team features some prominent offensive threats in the upcoming NCAA West Regional starting this Friday, March 15th. The Broncos are set to take on the Vikings of Western Washington in the first game of the tournament at 12:00 PM in Azusa.

Jeanette Fine is one of the most experienced players on the roster for the Broncos, currently in her fourth collegiate season after spending three years at nearby NAIA school Hope International. While playing for the Royals, Fine scored 913 points, amassed 531 rebounds, and helped HIU to a 51-21 record in her three seasons – reaching the NAIA Opening Round in 2022-23.

On December 9th of this season, Fine accumulated her 1,000th career point against Cal State East Bay, making a three-pointer with 4:58 left in the third quarter. The Las Vegas native has since scored 161 points, bringing her current career total to 1,162 – ranking 126th among active DII players.

Fearless Freshman
CCAA Freshman of the Year Sydney Nelson has put together a stellar freshman campaign for the Broncos, rankings first on the team in scoring with 441 points while also leading the team in rebounds with 192. She ranks Top 25 in the West Region in blocks (25), field goal percentage (.497), field goals made (170), free throws made (101), points per game (15.2), and rebounds (192). The Eleanor Roosevelt High School product has done all of this as a true freshman, while also reaching double figures in 25 of her first 29 games played.

Playmaker
Junior Kalaya Buggs joins Nelson as the second Bronco with over 400 points, having 418 on the season. Buggs has been a pivotal piece to CPP's offense all season, recording the fourth-most assists in the West Region at 116. The Compton native is also tied for first in the entire West Region in free throws made at 150, while ranking Top 25 in free throw percentage (.794), points per game (14.4), and steals (61).

Record Breaker
Breanne Ha has been lethal from deep, tying the school record for most three-pointers made in a season at 71 - which also ranks fourth in the West Region. With just one more, she will break the CPP single season record, while also moving into sole possession of second place on the all-time list at 170. Ha also leads the Broncos in minutes played at 911, averaging 31.4 per game.
