POMONA, Calif. – Daisy Duke, Samantha Campion, and Caitie Mueller continued to rack up accolades for the 2023 season, this time earning the most notable individual award of them all: All-American.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the three All-America teams and honorable mentions on Wednesday morning, with Duke making second team, Campion making third team, and Mueller being named an honorable mention. This is the first time in the 43-year history of the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball program that the Broncos have had three All-Americans in one season.
Duke repeated as an All-American for the third consecutive season, previously earning third team in 2021, first team in 2022, and now second team in 2023. Duke closes out her historic career ranking fifth in school history in career kills at 1,256 and third in kills pers set at 3.44. She is undeniably the best CPP player in the 25-point scoring format era (since 2008), as those ahead of her in the record books played during the 15-point (1981-2000) or 30-point (2001-2007) scoring formats. Duke becomes the only player in program history to be named a three-time All-American, cementing herself in the record book.
Campion picked up her first career All-American honors, having been named AVCA Third Team. She finished the season ranking Top 200 in the nation in aces per set (0.40), attacks per set (9.37), kills per set (3.51), points per set (4.20), service aces (42), total attacks (993), and total kills (372). Campion truly did it all, leading the team in kills and service aces, ranking second with 332 digs, and fourth with 56 total blocks.
Mueller picked up her second All-American honors, repeating as an AVCA Honorable Mention in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Mueller became just the third Bronco in program history to record back-to-back 1,000 assist seasons, and quarterbacked a Bronco offense that ranked 13th in the nation in hitting percentage (.261) and 17th in kills per set (13.80).
