Tara Oper Named CCAA Player of the Week
By: CCAA
Tara Oper's first goal of the season was a huge one as she has been selected as the CCAA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 9-15.
Oper led Cal Poly Pomona to a 1-0 win over No. 1 ranked, and defending national champion, Point Loma on Thursday. She scored the lone goal in the match to end the Sea Lion's 13-match winning streak. Oper shot came from outside the box and tucked perfectly into the corner over a leaping goalkeeper.
CPP's win over Point Loma was the program's first ever victory over the No. 1 ranked team in the country.
The senior forward from Riverside also assisted on a goal in the Broncos' 5-1 win at Westmont on Saturday as Cal Poly Pomona improved to 4-0.
Cal Poly Pomona will hit the road to Colorado for a pair of matches against RMAC teams. The Broncos take on Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday and will be at Metro State of Denver on Sunday.
