Stevens Named CCAA Pitcher of the Week
By: CCAA
Cal Poly Pomona's Rhys Stevens edged out some solid performances in the league to pick up his third career CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week award.
Stevens yielded just two hits in seven scoreless innings to the previously first place Cal State San Marcos Cougars in Saturday's first game of a doubleheader. He fanned three and walked one in a dominant gem. He also hit a batter in a 101-pitch outing.
The junior right-handed from San Clemente, Calif., retired the seven of the first eight batters he faced. Before handing off the ball to the bullpen, Stevens sat 10 of the final 11 Cougars — including the final six in order — he faced.
Stevens is currently fifth in the CCAA in ERA with a 3.27. His opponents' batting average of .218 is second best in the conference.. Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders.
