Cal Poly Pomona's Vanessa Cruz was on fire last week as she claimed the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Cruz scored four of the team's five goals last week as the No. 2 ranked Broncos won twice on the road. She scored a hat trick on Friday in the 3-2 win over Cal State East Bay and netted one of the goals in a 2-0 win at Cal State San Marcos on Sunday. She accounted for the game-winner in both matches.
The junior forward from Oceanside is just the second CCAA player to post a hat trick this season. It was the first hat trick by a CPP Bronco since 2012.
Cruz extended her conference scoring lead to nine goals on the season – four more than any other player in the league. She also leads the CCAA with 19 points, eight points more than the next player. Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders
Cal Poly Pomona (10-0-1, 3-0-1 CCAA) takes on Cal State LA at Los Angeles on Thursday before hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday.
