Noel Soto Named CCAA Pitcher of the Week
By: CCAA
Cal Poly Pomona's Noel Soto has been voted this week's CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week (Apr. 15-21).
Soto earns the 38th CCAA Athlete of the Week for Cal Poly Pomona this academic year, tying both a school and conference record set by the Broncos in 2021-22. With just one more athlete of the week from baseball or track & field, the department will break the school record. A school has only gotten more than 30 Athletes of the Week five separate times since the awards were introduced in 1998-99, three of which have been the Broncos in the past three years.
Soto threw a seven-inning complete game to lead Cal Poly Pomona to a 6-1 win in the second game on Saturday. It was his third seven-inning complete game in his last four appearances. The senior allowed just four hits and one earned run on 91 pitches while forcing nine ground outs and nine fly balls with two strikeouts.
The Lakewood, Calif. senior is now 6-2 over his 10 starts. He leads the CCAA with three complete games. Opponents are hitting .261 off him. Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders.
This is Soto's second CCAA Pitcher of the Week award (Feb. 12) and CPP's third this season. Click here to see the history of CCAA Baseball weekly award winners.
