Ryan Fields Captures 15th Career CCAA Track Athlete of the Week Award
By: CCAA
For the fourth time in the past six weeks, Cal Poly Pomona's Ryan Fields has been named the CCAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 15-21.
Fields becomes the 40th CCAA Athlete of the Week for CPP during 2023-24, making the Broncos the first school to ever reach 40 in an academic year. Fields now has 15 CCAA Athlete of the Week awards in his career, nearly doubling the previous conference record of eight. His sister, Ayana, is also now second in conference history with nine in her career.
Ryan Fields broke the CPP school record in the 110 meter hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays, running a 13.64 to beat his previous school record of 13.75 at nationals last year.
That mark now ranks fourth in the nation and first in the CCAA. Fields earned an NCAA Provisional Standard in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.09, which would rank second in the nation had he not run a 51.06 earlier this season. Fields' earned his third provisional mark of the weekend in the 4x400 relay team, which came within one second of breaking the school record as they posted a time of 3:10.48.
