Broncos Slam Their Way Into the CCAA Tournament

POMONA, Calif - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos clinched a spot in the CCAA tournament for the 18th time in program history and the first time since the 2022-2023 season with a 69-62 victory over Cal State East Bay.

In the first half, the teams traded baskets, with the Broncos initially trailing the Pioneers. However, the Broncos quickly closed the gap, staying within a few points and eventually taking the lead. Despite the Pioneers' resilience, the teams continued to exchange the lead until there were four minutes left in the half. At this point, the Broncos began to push ahead and maintained control for the rest of the half, leaving with a 36-29 lead.

Coming into the second half, the Broncos immediately demonstrated their dominance, pushing their lead slightly further. Just three minutes into the half, they gained a 12-point advantage, their largest lead of the game. The Pioneers didn't go down without a fight, cutting the Broncos' lead to just three points a few minutes later. But the Broncos remained composed and continued to execute their game plan, steadily pushing ahead and maintaining control of the score throughout the second half. They finished strong with a 69-62 victory.

Shyheim Parm led the Broncos with 19 points and seven rebounds, pacing the team in both categories. In his final home game, Jordan Carpenter tied his season high with nine points, making a memorable contribution to his team's win.
