No. 21 Broncos Clinch CCAA Tournament Berth With 60-55 Win Over Sonoma State

POMONA, Calif. – The No. 21 ranked Broncos pulled out another victory in Kellogg Arena on Thursday night, defeating Sonoma State by a score of 60-55. With the win, the Broncos clinch a berth into the CCAA Tournament for the 28th time in program history, while also improving to 19-4 on the season.

Trailing 24-20 at halftime, the Broncos erupted for a dominant third quarter, outscoring Sonoma State 22-15 to seize momentum. Their defensive intensity and aggressive play in the paint proved crucial down the stretch, as they finished with 36 points in the key and a commanding 55-32 rebounding advantage. Their 55 rebounds against the Seawolves ranks second-most in a game this season.

Sydney Nelson led the charge with 15 points, eight rebounds, and four steals, turning in her 21st consecutive game scoring in double figures. Hunter Hudson also nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and 13 boards. Senior Kalaya Buggs made an impact in the win, tallying 10 rebounds and eight points.

After struggling offensively in the first half, the Broncos came alive in the third quarter, with Nelson and Khamiyah Anderson fueling the rally. A strong defensive effort, including four team blocks and 10 steals, helped shut down the Seawolves' outside shooting and force key turnovers.

Despite the game remaining within single digits throughout the entire fourth quarter, the Broncos were able to maintain the lead for their 19th win of the season.
