Yotes Get Revenge on Broncos in CCAA Semifinals
LOS ANGELES – After Cal Poly Pomona eliminated Cal State San Bernardino in the CCAA Tournament Semifinals in 2022, the Yotes returned the favor on Friday night with a 3-1 win over the Broncos. This loss ended the Broncos' hopes of defending their CCAA Tournament title, while setting up a Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State LA final – the two regular season co-champions of the conference.
Both offenses struggled to find the floor, with the Broncos recording their fourth-most digs of the season at 72 and the Yotes collecting a season-high 76 digs in the match. The Broncos' attacks were also met with 13 blocks at the net, the third-most by one of their opponents in a match this year. As a result, both teams each recorded their fourth-lowest hitting percentage of the season, CPP at .172 and CSUSB at .204.
Daisy Duke recorded a match-high 17 kills, while Madison Novak was close behind with 15 and Samantha Campion reached double-digits with 10. Across both teams, six players collected double-digit kills, all six having been named to the All-CCAA First Team or Second Team.

Having gone 21-7 (.750) and being nationally ranked in the Top 25 for the entirety of the 2023 season, the Broncos have all but guaranteed themselves a spot in the NCAA Tournament at the end of this month. The eight-team west regional will be announced this coming Monday, November 20th, during the NCAA Selection Show at 4:30 PM PST on NCAA.com.
In the latest NCAA regional rankings published earlier this week, CPP was placed third in the West behind No. 1 Chaminade and No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino. Barring an unforeseen change, this would likely send the Broncos to either Honolulu, Hawaii or San Bernardino for the West Regionals taking place from November 30th – December 2nd. CPP has played on both courts this season, opening the season in the Hawai'i Challenge on the campus of Chaminade, as well as a road game at CSUSB in early October.
