Want to Make a Difference? The U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services is Hiring

Did you know that the work of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) touches the lives of every person in the nation? The department will be on campus in late February to recruit Cal Poly Pomona students and alumni for jobs.

Think about the last food you consumed, cosmetics you applied or medication you were prescribed — they all likely contain ingredients that are approved and regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) led the nation’s response efforts.

If you know someone who is struggling with substance use or suffering from mental illness, you may have contacted SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) free and confidential helpline for treatment referral or support resources.

Starting Feb. 23, Cal Poly Pomona students and alumni are invited to attend several career events on campus to learn about the positions, prepare for interviews and meet recruiters. HHS includes 12 operating divisions and about 80,000 employees. The department is hiring in the fields of communications, marketing, finance, accounting, information technology, biology, chemistry, criminology, cybersecurity and public health. Visit the HHS website for a list of HHS mission-critical occupations.

If you’re interested in learning about the far-reaching impacts of one of the most consequential departments in the federal government, join us at these upcoming events as Cal Poly Pomona launches a new partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to increase early career employment opportunities for students interested in public service.
